NEWS

19th August 2008:

All the new Colinette colours are  now in stock. We have ALL 9 colours to extend our JitterBug range, and selected shades in Point Five, Tao, Parisienne, Giotto, Iona, Tagliatelli and One Zero. Remember, we always carry every available colour in the JitterBug range, with most available in garment lots! What's our favourite? Well, it has to be October Afternoon - which you'll find we've added to a number of our yarn lines. And we're pretty fond of Pastures New, too!

One Zero has recently been 'relaunched' with a brand new pattern book. We've taken this opportunity to extend our range of One Zero colours, so you'll now be spoilt for choice. Not seen One Zero recently ? You'll be delighted with its new look - still a pure wool yarn, but it now has a new super-soft, silky feel.

Discontinued Colinette lines: it's always sad when a yarn gets discontinued, particularly so when it's a customer favourite. When we heard that Enigma was to go, we ordered in most of Colinette's remaining stock and, alas, after the recent Craft & Quilt Fairs (along with the temptation of our Draped Vest pattern), nearly all our Enigma stock is now gone. Also discontinued is Lasso, and we have just a few remaining now. But saddest of all is the news direct from Colinette that it is intended to discontinue Tagliatelli - that merino tape yarn that continues to be a big favourite amongst our customers. So, we've been pro-active on your behalf and, while stock is still available from Colinette, we've ordered in boxes & boxes full, in a much extended colour range to that we already had. So keep an eye on our Tagliatelli page for updates, starting today!

10th December 2007:

The best news of the day is our falling prices! With Australia's dollar being so strong against other currencies just now, we've been able to review our costings and prices and save you, our loyal customers, some money on your favourite yarns. Whilst we can't predict the future behaviour of exchange rates, be assured that we're always on top of what's happening, and will quickly pass on to you any extra savings that we can. For the moment, it's some of our long term favourites (Giotto, Point Five and Tagliatelli) that have benefited from these price drops, and we'll be reviewing the cost of other stock yarns very soon. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the Australian dollar remains in such a good position for some time yet!

Let us recommend: We've been loving the summer weight Banyan yarn and would suggest it as the ideal yarn for those warm weather projects. There's a great selection of tops in the Banyan book, so why not get those needles clicking through the summer hols here in Australia? I will be!

A BIG 'Thank You' to all those subscribers who helped us clear a huge amount of storage space in our recent Subscriber Sale. And what bargains some of you amassed! If you're not yet a Subscriber, email us today to find out what bargains you're missing out on.

YARN lives on! The editorial in the latest Yarn Magazine indicated it was most likely the final issue, as a buyer hadn't been found to take over the reins of this well loved magazine. However, since publication, a team of new owners have purchased the mag. Yarn Magazine will continue in 2008. What a relief.

Christmas is coming: We'll be processing your orders right through the Christmas period, but delivery will be dependant upon Australia Post's holiday arrangements. We ourselves will be taking a short break from 1st January through to 8th January, so please be aware that no enquiries or orders will be dealt with during that brief period.

12th November 2007:

YARN Magazine: Sad news for all Yarn lovers - the current edition, Issue 8, is scheduled to be the final run of this quality knitting publication. See the full story at the YARN Magazine Blog .

Knit Picks HARMONY needles: These beautiful (and much lusted after!) wooden needles are now on order with the distributor. Due around late November, we think you'll love the sock sets (5 sets of 6 x dpns)  and the interchangeable kit. Pre-order now for Christmas.

23rd October 2007:

New JitterBug Colours: The Colinette JitterBug Range has now been extended a further time, to include 10 totally new Colinette colours. These are known as the Dali Shades, are all near solids, and include some stunners like Wasabi Squeeze, Ginger Cinnabar and Elephant's Daydream. We will, as you all love the JitterBug yarn so much, continue to hold all 45 colours in the JitterBug range.

IONA, the newest Colinette yarn: a brand new yarn from Colinette. Combining softest wool, finest kid mohair and luxurious silk, Iona is an Aran weight yarn (Australian equivalent = 10ply). There's also a fabulous pattern book available in support of this new line.

WIGWAM is back: Wigwam pure cotton tape is one of the first Colinette yarns we carried, way back when we first brought Colinette Yarns into Australia - and I still wear the modular vest that I knit with it well over 10 years ago! We've decided the time is right to reintroduce this yarn to our Australian customers, and Colinette have released a brand new pattern book, Stella,  in support of it. Wigwam is easy to knit and comfortable in wear and, after our own experience of washing & wearing for more than a decade, we can confirm that it maintains its looks and shape extremely well !

New Dali Colours: Already mentioned above, we'll also be introducing some of the Dali Colours to existing lines -  keep an eye on our Parisienne page in particular.

All the needles you'll need: We've selected a fabulous range of needles to suit knitting with most of the Colinette range of yarns. Sock knitters can choose our 2.5mm (for JitterBug socks) in Addi circulars, Knit Picks circulars or Knit Picks dpns. Straight needles are available in the Liteflex range, made in New Zealand, from casein - these are great for people with arthritis or other painful hand conditions. We have 2.75mm through to 15mm. See our NEEDLES page now.

3rd May 2007:

Subscriber Newsletter: If you're a subscriber and didn't hear from us in April 2007, please drop us a line  using the following email link: RE-SUBSCRIBE .  We've recently switched to a new system and, because of problems we were experiencing with the old, overloaded method, some subscribers may have been dropped without warning. Apologies if that's you! So, sign up again right now.

Banyan too is now in stock, with some colours selling fast. We're currently knitting up a sample garment from the BANYAN pattern book, and are really impressed with the result!

29th March 2007: My goodness ! We're having trouble keeping up. Colinette has announced that the JitterBug range is to extend even further. And WE are stocking ALL 35 colours. Most colours will be available from us in garment quantities now that there is a pattern book to support this yarn - plus lots of you have already been knitting it to your favourite light weight children's or women's wear patterns. We've added all the new colours to our JitterBug page though please be aware that, as at this time, whilst all colours are ordered some of the range has yet to be delivered.

Banyan update: We have several colours on order in this delightful new yarn, but Colinette advises us that there may be a delay of one or two weeks on its original release date. Please be aware that you can pre-order Banyan with us, as we've now put up purchase details on our BANYAN pages.

Upcoming shows: Important venue change to our next show! The Victorian Handknitter's Guild Mini Wool Expo has been forced to change venues at short notice and will now take place at BRUNSWICK TOWN HALL. Regulars will remember that this is where the event first started, and it is very convenient to trams and trains if you are travelling via public transport. Plenty of parking very close to the venue too. See our Contact Pages for full details of this, plus the impressive Darling Harbour Craft & Quilt Show to which we return in June.

20th March 2007: Phew! What a busy month this has been. We've just returned from two back-to-back shows and have had a wonderful time meeting old customers and new. We've news of lots of new products that are already on order with Colinette and due here in Australia very soon, including yet another brand new yarn release. Remember too, we take pre-orders for all these new releases (saves the disappointment as some lines sell out almost as soon as we've stocked the shelves!) so simply email us with your requirements

BANYAN: This will be coming in our next order, due to arrive in April. Colinette BANYAN is a summer weight yarn that Australian knitters will love. It's a stunning mix of cotton and viscose, will knit to your favourite 8 ply patterns, and is also supported by its own dedicated pattern book.

MORE JITTERBUG COLOURS: We've been so overwhelmed by the response to JitterBug, it's great to see that so many of you are enjoying sock knitting using this superior quality hand-dyed merino. Colinette have extended the colour range by adding the 'Velvets', and we have your favourites on order. Also available will be a new garment pattern book for JitterBug, so those of you who'd like to wear your JitterBug 4 ply on some place other than your feet, then this will be the book to see.

NEW PATTERN BOOK FOR TAO & PARISIENNE: Colinette's new pattern book 'Nostalgia' has some dreamy garments in Tao silk and Parisienne Kid Mohair yarns. Keep your eye on our web pages if you want to grab one of the first copies.

MORE PATTERN SUPPORT FOR GIOTTO: Giotto has always been a firm favourite with our customers and now there's yet another pattern book added to the already extensive range for Giotto. 'Catalan' is a smaller format book featuring brand new designs for Colinette Giotto, and will be in our next shipment.

14th October 2006: Cadenza now in stock. Yes ! It's here, and it really is a beautiful, high quality Merino wool. It's just so soft against the skin, we think you'll love it. Remember too, as this is a 'regular' 8 ply/ Double Knitting thickness, you can easily substitute your favourite pattern, or use Colinette's dedicated Cadenza book. Pop over to our new Cadenza page now !

Would you believe it ? Yet another NEW Colinette Yarn on its way. We're sure all our customers will be delighted to hear news of yet another new release by Colinette. JITTERBUG, like Cadenza, is a beautiful easy-care Merino, but this time in a 4 ply/ sock yarn. Sock knitting has been having a resurgence of interest in the last year or two, so we're sure that sock knitters everywhere will be keen to get their hands on a quality sock weight yarn in the hand-dyed colours that only Colinette can do. And if you enjoy knitting garments and larger projects in finer yarns, this 4 ply is for you too. We've put up a preview page  for JITTERBUG here  Whilst we've ordered ALL the available colourways, we will have limited supplies in some of the colours, so we'll be happy to accept pre-orders now. Pick out your favourite colours today (and each hank comes with a free sock pattern)!

Newly revised Yarn Sample Packs. After much playing around, we've completely revised our Yarn Sample Packs to make them easier to use, more useful, bigger and better value. Read all about it on the Sample Pack page

17th August 2006: New pattern books for Tao & Parisienne on their way ! Treasure Trove is the newly available book dedicated to Tao silk, and Arboretum is a book of accessories (including a couple of bags and a silk necklace) worked in Tao and/or Parisienne - loads of patterns here suitable for just one hank, so we're sure it will be popular. We expect these new books to arrive here around the end of August, and pre-orders are welcome.

Cadenza is a brand new yarn from Colinette - an 8 ply/DK 100% pure merino wool that is machine washable. There's an accompanying Cadenza pattern book, but this yarn can be knitted to just about any regular 8ply/DK pattern that you may have. We hope to have Cadenza in stock around October, so check our web site regularly for a news update.

14th July 2006: New Yarns ! The long awaited, much anticipated Tao and Parisienne have now been released. Colinette's Tao is the most luscious silk yarn we've ever seen, and the Parisienne Kid Mohair is simply beautiful. Parisienne is supported by a pattern book full of sophisticated, chic designs, with most garments taking no more than 5 hanks ! Pop right over to our Tao & Parisienne pages to see what's on offer - and we're already putting together our next order for more of these two stunning yarns from Colinette.

New colours: When you're browsing through all our yarn pages you'll find that we've added some new colours to some of the Colinette lines, and a few colours have been replaced completely. If we've removed your favourite colour from the site, don't despair - we're always happy to order  in any lines that are currently available from Colinette in Wales.

The Soliloquy Collection: We've made our first yarn available in this new range. A beautiful Tussah Silk Tape in its natural colourway. It knits up a treat - handles like a 5 ply and is economical in use. We'll be adding hand-dyed colourways and other luxury, hard to find yarns in due course. Follow this link to see the Tussah Silk Tape.

A note to subscribers using AOL : It's well known that AOL has some pretty extreme filtering processes in place for its mail users. Whilst their aim is to avoid filling AOL inboxes with spam, it sometimes filters out your most wanted mail too. If you've subscribed to our Newsletter using an AOL address, it's quite likely that our emails aren't reaching you. Our advice is to sign up for a free webmail account (through Yahoo or similar) and use this address for your subscription.

24th May 2006: We've been expanding our ranges even more ! More colours in Point 5 (we've added Dusk, Venezia); more colours in Tagliatelli; more colours ....well....in lots of the yarns, so just take a good look around to see what we've got !

2 New Colinette Yarns coming. We haven't got a date from Colinette yet, but there's 2 very exciting new releases being planned.  If you want to know all the gossip about these, we'll be telling our Subscribers in their next Newsletter. So SIGN UP TODAY .

Our OWN line of specially selected luxury yarns COMING SOON. We're presently putting together our own range of luxury yarns for you: The Soliloquy Collection. You'll be able to source hard-to-find luxuries like silks & cashmeres, both natural colours and hand dyes. Watch out for the 100% Tussah Silk Ribbon, that we'll have available to coincide with the release of 'Contemporary Crafts: Knit', an Australian knitting book for which we specially designed two garments in this gorgeous silk ribbon yarn.

Debbie New & her Scribble Lace: In April we were fortunate enough to share a week in the company of Debbie New, participating in her workshop that covered multitudes of her extraordinary techniques shown in her book 'Unexpected Knitting'. One technique that might be of particular interest to Colinette lovers is Scribble Lace - which can transform a single hank of Point 5 into a scrumptious, organic wrap or scarf. Ask us for details with your next purchase of Point 5.

5th February 2006: Our new online payment facility is up and running. Whatever payment method you'll be using can be accommodated by our BUY NOW process: regular credit cards or PayPal, even cheques and money orders, and direct credit requests. Simply complete the online shopping cart and indicate your payment preferences. Credit card details will be made available to us via a secure SSL server, and PayPal payments will be redirected to the PayPal secure site. Do check out our Ordering Information for full details of what payment methods are available to international purchasers, and which methods are restricted to Australian buyers. You can still phone, fax or mail your orders to us, if that's your preference.

Muse300_5.jpg (35962 bytes)New yarn, new books.  On order now are Colinette's latest releases. First, a brand new yarn, Lasso, which is finer in structure to many of the Colinette Yarns you may be used to. It's worked on 4mm needles with a typical tension of 19sts/4cm, and is well suited to summer and after five wear. A super book to go with Lasso is the newly released 'Muse'. Some really interesting shapes to be found amongst the pages, as well as three garments worked entirely in crochet. Another brand new book - dedicated to the well loved Giotto - is Femme Fatale. We hear from Colinette that their original 'Giotto Pattern Book' is now discontinued, but we still have a number in stock.

Perugino Throw Kits - now come in an additional range of stunning colourways, now totalling 12 in all!  Go to our Perugino page to see the fabulous new range. All colourways are presently in stock, but first come, first served.

12th September 2005:

Rock Gods & Movie Stars is proving a popular buy at the shows - it's the latest pattern book from Colinette and is dedicated to Point 5 and Tagliatelli. Plenty of designs for the fashion conscious knitter.

Jelly All Stars is also a winner: a really huge book chock-full of trendy designs for children. This children's selection is long overdue (and we'll now be discontinuing our previous 'Children's Collection') and it utilises a wide range of Colinette yarns, including Prism, Point 5 and Tagliatelli. It has the lot - dresses, jumpers, jackets, accessories.

Subscribers can benefit from our current 'subscriber only' offer outlined in our latest Newsletter. Want to know more ? Then sign up today. For those who thought they were on the list, but haven't heard from us for a long time, do note that we have to remove the addresses of any mail that bounces back to us for any reason (and you'd be surprised at just how many of you have overfilled your mail boxes!).  There have also been problems with some ISPs, probably filtering the Newsletter as if it were spam. Drop us an email if you think we may have bumped you off our list.

The latest issue of Southern Cross Knitting is up and in it you'll find one of our designs for a throw & cushion cover (see pic at right) in Colinette's soft & snugly Fandango. Hop over there now for the simple (and FREE !) pattern instructions.

YARN is the latest knitting magazine to come out of Australia. There's currently a trial online version at http://www.yarnmagazine.com.au and the next edition will be available as a hard copy from knitting outlets and newsagents. Subscriptions are also available - see the web site for fuller details.

20th January 2005: We've kicked off the New Year with many new additions and exciting news of what's to come!PeruginoThrow300_3.jpg (17295 bytes)

Colinette Perugino Throw Kits are now in stock. We think you'll love our price - just AU$140.00 (for our US customers, that works out at about US$105.00 when our dollar is buying US75c). These really are a great option if colour combining isn't your greatest skill - Colinette's taken the hard work out of it and put together yarn textures & colours that work together. All you need to provide are the needles. Go to our new page at PERUGINO THROWS to see the range of colours. (Please note: Colinette in Wales have now discontinued the Absolutely Fabulous Throw Kit & the Love It Kit, but we ARE still able to source these elsewhere as special orders for our customers.)

NEW ADDITION: Colinette Mohair. We've just received a shipment of Colinette Mohair (having given in to your many requests for this line !) and are currently stocking 10 colours: Venezia, Marble, Monet, Toscana, Lichen, Moss, Jay, Autumn Leaves, Velvet Bilberry & Morocco. Further additions coming soon are Caramel, Fresco & Lilac.  Priced at AU$22.00 per 100g hank, this yarn's ideal for the throws that many of you are keen on knitting, easily combined with so many of the other Colinette yarns. Alternatively, use it with any generic 12ply mohair pattern. View the range over at our MOHAIR pages

4th October 2004: Fibre Forum: We've had a fantastic week trading at the Geelong Fibre Forum, and were pleased that many of you made the trip out to visit us there in the Traders Hall. Wonderful too to see what students in the knitting workshops were creating with the various Colinette yarns. Particularly spectacular were some of the bias knit wraps, with beautiful shape and drape, that were created by Liz Gemmell's class. Knitted in a drop stitch on large needles, we saw variants worked in Point 5, Tagliatelli and also Isis. Stunning !

We also saw how fibre artist Lynne Johnson had used Tagliatelli to great effect in one of her hat designs - the pattern for her hat, along with a photograph also appears in the new book release by Jenny Dowde.

Melinda (in Prism) from Wayfarer21st August 2004:

Prism: We've also posted details of Prism on the main yarn page, which will then lead you to the dedicated Prism page. We've found Prism to be a really enjoyable yarn to work with - we're sure you will too. There's plenty of patterns for this yarn in a number of the newer publications. Artyfacts, in particular, is proving to be an extremely popular book. We sold our first shipment almost immediately but we now have more copies in stock once again. Be quick if you've had your eye on this great accessories book.

2nd April 2004: Special orders: A reminder to you all that we are able to take special orders for any of the current Colinette range, even if it is a line we don't usually stock. We have customers already taking advantage of this service and,  in most instances, there is not usually a requirement for a minimum order quantity. However, be aware that your special orders will be added to our next available order submission to Colinette and, though we order very frequently, it can take up to 8 weeks for Colinette Yarns to complete the dyeing and despatch the orders back to Australia.

21st January 2004: Updates. We know you'll want to keep up with all the changes and new items on our web site as they occur, so take note of the Welcome Page whenever you visit. The date of the most recent update can be found near the top, and direct links to pages with new content can be found at the very bottom of that same page.
